Additionally, the Sustainability Demo Tour the day before include: The McCombs home and their fantastic nursery - Plant Fair Nursery; and Xeriscape Garden at the college dedicated to a really neat guy who passed away a few years ago . . .
Thank you for the acceptance and welcoming! I look forward to getting to know AZHS members. And yes, we are wicked excited about our large compost barrel, lol! Our yard has been vacant for many years, so I have an open pallet. I am excited to start making less of an impact on mother earth and giving back to our family/friends and hopefully the community eventually by growing in my backyard! Since it is a bare, I am searching to find reusable gardening items of any kind that people no longer need or want, so that I can REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE.

I really would like to get started growning some veggies but am having a hard time. I'm having a lot of medical issues that all deal with fatigue. I know the veggies would help as I am testing vitamin/mineral deficinent (Iron, vit D, B12, Magnesium). I'm not sure about growing seasons in Phx. How can I start small?

I teach at Paseo Hills School in the Deer Valley School District. Our middle school is looking to begin a student garden as part of our "Living Community" and community service projects. We have the area to grow and the enthusiasm of our staff but a lack of ideas on how to begin.
Thank you for you quick response to my earlier email!
No, neither of my schools has a community garden. Budget pressures on schools and educators is intense. Even though gardening would be a wonderful experience for the students, public demand is for no frills back to the basics education.
Thanks for the welcome. How is the best way to get started? Jack
